Guide to Rural Internet Service During Coronavirus Outbreak

Services

The COVID-19 outbreak is affecting educational institutions throughout the U.S., leaving students, faculty, and staff to study and participate in classes remotely from home.

This leaves us relying on the internet more than ever to stay connected during this period of social distancing and isolation.
To help make sure everyone at your school is staying connected while at home, we wanted to forward you an updated resource page we have put together for those in rural areas.

Here are a few of the issues this resource addresses:

  • Viasat’s response to COVID-19 (they will not terminate service for those who can’t pay through June 30)
  • HughesNet’s response to COVID-19 (they will also not terminate service for those who can’t pay)
  • Hotspot options for those who can’t get fast satellite internet at home
  • How to get free or cheap rural internet access during this time

We’d love for you to share this resource with your students to assure them that there are free and affordable internet options out there. We hope this is a valuable resource as your students practice safe social distancing while advancing their education.
