Course Overview

This two-part workshop will present an overview of assessment methodologies and treatments that are evidence-based and effective for the treatment of complex trauma and disorders of attachment, including the DSM-V diagnosis of reactive attachment disorder.
The first session will describe a three-session model for a comprehensive assessment. Participants will learn several specific methods to use for assessment. The second session will describe Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

Participants will learn about the basic principles of this evidence-based and effective treatment.
In addition, the importance of attachment-facilitating parenting will be described with several practical suggestions for practitioners.

Learning Objectives

• Participants will be able to describe and use at least one specific methodology to use for the assessment of complex trauma and disorders of attachment.

• Participants will be able to discuss the importance of beginning with a comprehensive assessment before beginning treatment.

• Participants will be able to describe several of the basic principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

• Participants will learn and be able to use at least one new treatment intervention.
